I believe the potential of Web and Technology is limitless. I have been a developer now for 15 years specializing in applications for the web, desktop, and mobile devices. I started my career during the Web 2.0 era when the browser wars were fully raging and when Ajax had ushered in a whole new era in browser based web development.
Since then I have worked on applications of all shapes and sizes, and have worked with teams small and large located in various different time zones. The one constant throughout my time in the tech industry has been change, which requires and ongoing willingness to adapt. For Web Developers like myself, this means staying current and abreast of technological advances in all facets of the Web Development sphere while continuing to explore, experiment and assess new technologies.
Now that the 2010’s are winding down to a close and we move forward into the 2020’s modern web development feels as futuristic and advanced as ever. With tools like React, PHP 7+, VSCode, WebPack, BrowserSync, Git, Python etc., the role of web developer has moved more towards creative craftsman and artisan. The advancements in web development tools have cleared more and more of the space between the developer and the problem to where we are now free at this point to simply create.
